55% percent of the threads in this category are people asking for feedback on their LP. I would highly suggest at least changing the name of this to 'Site Feedback' and possibly also make a new category under the LP section for "Let's Play Feedback".

I know that there is a thread for receiving feedback, but I think a lot of people would agree that an entire category would be a lot more helpful. Most of the LPs posted in that thread receive zero feedback.

Yeah, but if they read this stickied topic titled "What this forum is for", they wouldn't look so stupid. It's only two sentences...

Edited for spelling... Saki is watching ._.

I agree completely with MeccaPrime.

To be frank, I've always considered the whole "ordeal" of looking for the right rules and such to be a sort of initiation rite. I mean, a lot of people succeed in finding the rules and abiding by them. I'd say it's a matter of this forum being a bit more strict and elitist than others out there. Then again, you wouldn't last a hundredth of a second on SA, because there they are really elitist.

Basically, it's like this: The LPF is a forum for LP:ers who really want to be useful contributors to the community. There are rules, and people who join are expected to follow them. If you can't handle the rules, the door is riiiiiiiight... there. Feel free to leave and join another forum.

I agree with MeccaPrime and Saki as well; it's not like it's hard to read the rules. Some forum rules are different than the usual 'common sense' stuff there usually is.

Besides, this part of the forum is listed as;
"Feedback - Tell us what YOU think"

Now, call me crazy but that doesn't exactly suggest that people are meant to post their LPs for feedback.
Then there's the usual locked threads that are made by people who miss what this section is for, and the other topics about site-related things which are not locked...

Plus, the "The purpose of this forum" thread right at the top.

There are plenty of opportunities for people to not make the mistake if they take a second to look around. The rules on this forum are pretty strict, yes, but they're not unreasonable and I tend to think of them as a way to weed out the really stupid people (the type that will not listen to or benefit from any feedback that may be given and will get their asses banned at some point down the line); those that made an honest mistake will probably read the rules and be more careful in the future so it doesn't happen again.

Besides, most of the people here are actually fairly nice; from what I've seen they only get up-in-arms about things or people that really deserve it.

Cleaning up after the members who mistake this forum's purpose isn't that bad. As mentioned, there are notices in place to point users in the right direction. We could rename the "What this forum is for" topic to "This forum is not for feedback on your Let's Plays", but it's not completely necessary.

In regards to an LP feedback forum, I disagree. The forum's current structure works very effectively. The established LP forums have a thread dedicated to each LP. These threads on their own can generate a high number of replies. The LP Status forum allows each member without LP status one thread only. These threads can generate a moderate number of replies if the user tries multiple times.
Feedback, however, usually only involves the request and review. Allowing threads for every one of these is unnecessary due to the low amount of content and high amount of requests. Members who give feedback are much more likely to look at the proposed feedback forum, see the amount of topics that need feedback and not give feedback to any, while in its current state, many people read the feedback thread, pick out one LP to review and move on. It's not a perfect system but it works.

I don't think people post threads like this without thinking (or reading, apparently) and I didn't think that this really needed to be explained, but here it goes.

In short: Read, don't write.

Stickies and announcement posts are put on the top of subforum pages to actually be read. I know this comes as a surprise to some, but they use this method of top-lining important information so you can actually read it. If you read previous posts in this subforum, you would know what content presides in it. If you're finding things misleading, then it's because you're not reading announcements and other posts before posting, which doesn't make us misleading, it makes you ignorant.

Fair enough.

Though I still think LP feedback deserves its own category. Again, hardly any of the LPs posted in the thread receive any attention.

Personally, I'd agree with you more on your first point than this one. It would just end up being a forum of a shit ton of topics only two to three posts each. It's a waste of space.

I renamed the "feedback" forum to "thoughts".

If anyone still thinks they should post their LP feedback topic here, they can get a ban. Hope this solves the problem.
